Mt Hope Mission Trip 2020 Missions trip to Parkersburg, WVa The youth of Mt Hope Church went on a missions trip to Appalachia from July 11 thru July 17, 2020. The mission trip was arranged through Praying Pelican Missions. We partnered with two local churches, Downtown Bethel House of God and Liberty Street Church of God. We served one of the poorest neighborhoods in Parkersburg, West Virginia where poverty and addiction are a major social problem. The ministry involved helping with the needs of the community, and providing encouragement and support by showing what it means to love God and love others. The team canvassed the neighborhood, and passed literature on the love of Jesus Christ and information on social resources available from surrounding churches. We collected food from a local grocery store to replenish a local food pantry. The group helped repair some of the dilapidated homes such as fixing a front porch and doing yard work for the elderly and disabled. The ministry continues by developing genuine partnership with the local churches. We will continue to pray for these churches and the community. We aim to develop life-long friends and establish long term relationships. Mt Hope Youth is very blessed and thankful for everyone's prayers and support. To continue the ministry, please consider donating to Mt Hope Missions and designate "Youth Missions Trip". The tax deductible donation may be placed in the offering plate or mail to:

The youth of Mt. Hope get together monthly to help clean and organize the Tree of Life food pantry located in Purcellville, Virginia. We enjoy working together in fellowship and servanthood. What a way to spend a weekend showing the love of God by serving others. Volunteers at the pantry serve Western Loudoun residents who need assistance with providing food for themselves and their families. For more information on volunteer opportunities and on food donation, please visit Tree of Life.

In the summer of 2019, we were humbled by the extent of assistance needed as communities in Guatemala continue to struggle in the aftermath of the devastating volcanic eruption of Volcan de Fuego in 2018. The medical mission trip was arranged through Leadership Excursion and sponsored by several local Guatemala ministries. Our motivation is the desire to show the love of God through our actions, and to remind the people that God is always faithful.
Matthew 25:40 says "I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters; you were doing it to me.” By following God's command to care for the needy, we experience the blessings that come from helping others. |
